Court Sessions
Municipal Court is held on the third Tuesday of every other month for arraignments, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Court is held in the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Upon arrival, defendants must sign in at the front desk. You will be asked whether you would like to meet with the Prosecuting Attorney, and you will be asked to read and sign a copy of the Advisement of Rights. If the defendant is a juvenile, a parent or legal guardian must be present and will also be required to sign the Advisement of Rights.
Prior to arraignment, defendants will have an opportunity to speak with the Prosecuting Attorney in an effort to resolve the case.
Payment of Fines
Penalty Assessment (fine amount listed on summons): If a dollar amount is entered in the penalty assessment box on the front of your summons, you have received a Penalty Assessment. You are required by law to pay this amount before your court date. Failure to pay will convert your Penalty Assessment to a Summons of Complaint, requiring your appearance in court at the location, date, and time shown on your summons. An additional court cost will also be assessed.
"SUM" listed in the fine box: If the word "SUM" appears in the fine box on your summons, you are required to appear in court at the location, date, and time shown on the front of your summons.
Failure to appear in court will result in a warrant being issued for your arrest. This may lead to contempt charges, additional fines, and a judgment against your driver's license.
Penalty Assessment summonses paid within 20 days, as stipulated above, will result in an automatic point reduction. Please refer to the back of your summons for details.
