The Municipal Court is located in the Town Hall Council Chambers. During court proceedings, entry is made through the main door of the town hall. Pierce Municipal Court is a court of record.
COURT SESSIONS
Municipal Court is held the third Tuesday every other month for arraignments, beginning at 3:00 p.m. There is no court in the months of February, April, June, August, October, December
The defendant will need to sign in at the front desk. The defendant will be asked if they would like to visit with the Prosecuting Attorney, and asked to read and sign a copy of the advisement of rights. If the defendant is a juvenile, a parent or legal guardian will need to be present, and will also be asked to sign the advisement of rights.
Prior to being arraigned, the defendant will have an opportunity to speak to the prosecuting attorney in an attempt to resolve the case.
PAYMENT OF FINES
If the penalty assessment box (fine) has an amount entered in the front of the summons, you have received a Penalty Assessment. By law you are required to pay before the court date. Failure to pay will cause this penalty assessment to become a Summons of Complaint and necessitate your appearance in Court at location, date, and time shown on the front of the summons, and an additional court cost will be assessed.
If the (fine) box has “SUM” written in the box, you are required to appear in court at the location, date, and time shown on the front of the summons.
Failure to appear in court will result in a warrant being issued for your arrest. This may result in contempt charges, additional fines, and a judgment against your driver’s license.
Penalty Assessment summonses that are paid within 20 days as stipulated above will result in an automatic point reduction. See the back of your summons.
